CORNET’S night at the Langholm Royal British Legion Club was sold out last Friday night.
Guest of honour Cornet Simon Richardson, along with his right and left-hand men Andrew Johnstone and Kevan Grieve, were cheered heartily as they entered the clubrooms.
David McVittie was chairman for the evening and was his usual witty self.
The toast to the Common Riding was given by Wayne Irving and the chairman of the Common Riding committee Roger Maxwell made suitable reply.
Derek Hogg proposed the toast to Cornet Richardson, to which the Cornet replied. Margaret Howe was the accompanist for singers Irving Stuart, Billy Young and David Pool.
Members of Langholm Town Band played a number of Common Riding tunes and later in the evening provided music for the dance.
Legion chairman Bill Dalgliesh gave a vote of thanks.
