THE problem of flooding in and around Eskdalemuir will be on the agenda at a meeting in the village tonight (Thursday).
A senior officer from Dumfries and Galloway council will attend the local community council meeting in the village hall at 7.30pm.
And Annandale East and Eskdale councillor Denis Male is hoping there will be a god turnout of concerned residents.
He said: “I know there are people living close to the River Esk in the village who are feeling very threatened by flooding at the moment.
“A number of properties have come very close to being affected after heavy rainfall and it is going to become an increasing problem because of climate change.
“At the moment Eskdalemuir is not on the five-year plan but I’m hoping there is something we can do to help these residents.
“There have also been some problems on the B709 south of the village.
“One stretch was impassable for a time one day last week because of flooding.
“Some people could not get to work but again I’m hoping the officer will be able to update us on what could be done.”
