BOWHOLM’S bad run continued on Saturday as they fought well against the table-toppers who proved to be just too good.
Bowholm were missing three regulars which didn't help their cause.
The game started with both teams looking to attack but a dubious penalty decision after 11 minutes sent Earlston on their way.
Five minutes later it was 2-0 and on 22 minutes it got worse.
The goal was awarded even though it looked offside.
To their credit Bowholm took the game to Earlston for the rest of the half and were unlucky to have a Duncan McMillan effort disallowed for offside.
Euan Stainthorp and Will Little also went close, but Bowholm couldn't find a way past their opponents.
A terrific point-blank save on 44 minutes by keeper Keith Tweddle meant it was still 3-0 at half-time.
The second half began with Bowholm again conceding a penalty, even though the offence looked to have been committed outside the area.
By 70 minutes the score was 7-0 but Bowholm kept battling and didn't concede anymore. They were denied a consolation goal when, after great work by Euan Stainthorp struck his shot past the keeper only to see the ball stick in the mud on the goal line.
It was duly cleared by the Earlston defender.
